Starting when Paul was hanging around studios in Memphis in the early 1970's, Paul was working on a different style of solo piano compositions.

Classically trained, he discovered that the piano player in the studio played much simpler, and with much more feeling.

Through the years, having discussions and being taught some different techniques by his mentors, Lee Hatim and Errol Thomas, Paul realized that the combination of being classically trained, coupled with the feelings generated by life experiences, with the spontaneity of the studio sessions, would become his inspiration for his solo piano compositions.

Encouraged by fellow producers and mentors, Paul developed a unique style of contemporary piano instrumentals, which now are considered new age piano, and soothing mood music.

Many of his earlier piano compositions that he played for other writers went on to become recorded and released.
