Beginner musicians about creating a band

I won’t open anything new for the dinosaurs of the musical world, but for beginners, I think this article will greatly help and coordinate their actions. All information is based on personal experience.

Where to start? Clearly decide for yourself whether you need this migraine. Believe me, you will have to do a lot! First, find serious people who are suitable for you according to their views on music. Secondly, buy tools and equipment, but everyone will not have enough money. Thirdly, to find a permanent place for rehearsals and establish a schedule of musicians about creating a band, while one part of the staff is studying on the first shift, the other on the second, and the third generally works round the clock. Fourth, look for “your note”, your style, your sound, think up so many thoughtful lyrics, crazy reefs, speedy, soulful solos, drum parts on the verge of human capabilities, in order to somehow differ from millions of other groups. Fifth, performing somewhere in the sessions at the beginning with trembling hands, legs and voices. And finally, organize the recording of albums.

Have you decided? Not frightened? Then read on …

1. The composition of the group. It is advisable to take guys who are proven (their good friends), persistent, and those who listen to musical directions acceptable to you. Then they will not suddenly leave the team, they will always finish the job, plus there will be less disagreement in the creative process. Make sure that your goals are the same or at least acceptable to each other, that everyone wants to seriously engage in music.

2. Tools and equipment.

A) Talk with friends who are versed in equipment, ask their advice. Read the forums of musicians, find out about the shortcomings of the necessary tools and equipment for your group (guitars, guitar lotions, processors and amplifiers, synthesizers, drum sets, microphones, mixers, etc.). As a last resort, ask about it in music stores (sometimes very smart sellers are found).

B) When buying, remember: everything is relative, so don’t get hung up on just one thing, look at a thing of the type you need, only from the “professional super expensive” class, feel the real quality, and try to find a less expensive one with similar characteristics.

C) If you spend money, then do it wisely and with the expectation that you have a very long time to use it. Even if you have a choice to take now something normal for 600 killed raccoons with a slight flaw, or transfer the purchase for an indefinite period and take something really cool for 700-800.e. without noticeable flaws, it’s better to wait a bit, pick up some money and buy a really sensible thing, than hurry up, and then bite your elbows and think: “Who would shove it all, and how to get something better?”

3. A place for rehearsals.

The room should be large enough (to fit everyone with the equipment), warm, dry (since the instruments deteriorate and get frustrated in cold and moisture) and have normal acoustic performance so that there is no echo. If someone from the staff can set aside their empty garage or room in a private house for rehearsals, then this option is best. If you still have nowhere to rehearse, go to the directors and rectors of educational institutions and arrange for rental premises for rehearsal days, which will be convenient and accessible to the whole composition for visiting.

4. The rules of relations in the group and behavior at rehearsals.

A) “Nobody loves assholes”, so respect the opinion of everyone and do not get arrogant. If you don’t like something, then remember: everything can be explained calmly and correctly. Nobody needs to yell with a “fierce growl” or a “fierce scream”, since conflicts only grow out of this and nothing good. But accumulating in yourself is also worthless.

B) If there is a representative of the fair sex in the composition, and for some reason you are madly in love with her … what to do … my words will not affect this in any way … meet your health! But as soon as feelings run out … eh, how do you sing when the question becomes: “either he or me! Or something like that. Therefore, you need to think in advance … either you want a long and happy love, or something else (in the latter case, I do not recommend starting any relationships). But all this is not to the detriment of rehearsals !!!

C) It is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN to invite strangers to a rehearsal !!! Violation of discipline by the students is guaranteed! Someone from the group will start to show off in front of everyone, someone will be nervous because nothing comes out, etc. In extreme cases, if it’s unbearable … arrange a concert at the end of each month or season for all the friends together. It will be a good practice. Just think, whom to invite … can steal any topic without a twinge of conscience.

D) Remember about mutual assistance! Do not blame all the responsibilities on one person, even if the leader of the group.

5. Participation in sessions.

The main thing is to get acquainted with the organizers of these events and make a good impression on them. I advise you to perform wherever the theme of your songs will be appropriate.
